The winners of the Finnish Game Jam 2011 were revealed on IGDA Finland gathering in Helsinki on Tuesday night. There were three winning categories: the Best Game, voted by the judges, the Jammers Favorite voted by the jammers themselves, and the Best Windows Phone 7 Game, sponsored by Microsoft and also voted by the judges. And here are the winners:

Best Game: Snobli Run, Kajaani
Jammers Favorite: Snobli Run, Kajaani
Best Windows Phone 7 Game: Omniludens, Tampere

Finland cleans the table in Gamesauce Challenge!

The winners of Gamesauce Challenge have been published and the results can be described with one word: EPIC! Among the ten winning games there are four games from Finland, and among the five runner ups there’s one more! Way to go! The winning teams have the opportunity to present their game during the Casual Connect Europe on Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Hamburg, Germany and have all-access passes to Casual Connect Europe and three nights of accommodation.

Each year, all the sites attending to the Global Game Jam air a shared, special keynote. Previously the keynotes have been by Kyle Gabler and Ste Curran. This year, the person behind the keynote was Keita Takahashi. In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, his games, Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy might! Advant Games Challenge in FGJ 2011

Advant Games from Tampere is offering a 100 euro gift voucher to GameStop in an idea competition on lottery games. Send a brief description of your lottery game idea based on some of your old favorite games before Sunday 9PM through a form in http://gamejam.advantlabs.fi or mail it to ideas@advantlabs.fi. The winner is announced at the sauna in the Sunday evening.

This competition is separate from the game jam projects, and you can think the concept by yourself or in a group. The competition is open for Finnish Game Jam participants. Check more information and get inspired in http://gamejam.advantlabs.fi!

Finnish Game Jam kicked off!

FGJ2011 has been successfully kicked off! About 160 jammers registered to different FGJ sites this year. The site specific numbers are: Tampere 44 (+ 2 remote participants in Scotland!), Turku 15, Outokumpu 10, Oulu 20 and Kajaani an impressive 70! Finnish game companies are widely represented as well: there are participants at least from 10tons Oy, Collosal Order, Frozenbyte, Moido Games, Kajak Games, Kuuasema, Kyy Games, Mental Moustache, Random Star Games and Tuokio! Can’t wait the games that will come out of these jams! But let’s not get ahead of time, there are still almost 41 hard (but exciting) developing hours left. Make the most of them!

The Finnish Game Jam 2011 is approaching with a swift speed! This year the jamming will be arranged in five locations: Kajaani, Tampere, Turku, Oulu and Outokumpu. The jams differ from last year also in that in addition to digital games, this time in some sites it is also possible to develop board games! So even if you are not the wizard of computing, don’t be afraid to sign up!
